The largest update to galactic survival sim Empyrion - Galactic Survival has just dropped. Alpha 8, detailed in this dev blog, adds a host of new features to Empyrion's already bursting seams, with most changes revolving around making the galaxy itself larger and more rewarding to explore.
This is the largest update to date for Empyrion...in more ways than one.
Large is somehow meant literally, as not only the changelog is consuming a couple of pages, but also the major feature in the game relates to size: Increased size, up to 64x larger, to be precise, as this is the factor the smallest planets (32km² = Alpha 7 size) now differ from the largest (2048km²)!
This means nothing if all of the planets are featureless husks, so the patch also includes the return of procedural terrain generation, more terrain diversity, and more features to make those extra large planets feel extra large and not just tedious.
Additional changes include the removal of red and green wall, AI improvements, texture improvements, controller support, and more. The complete list of changes can be found at the dev post above. Happy exploring!
