Escape From Tarkov's 0.12 Update is the Most Significant Yet

Ultra hardcore PvP/PvE online shooter Escape from Tarkov is to be filled with a slew of new features and some much-needed under-the-hood improvements in the upcoming 0.12 update.

Moving to a new version of the Unity engine has helped accommodate the graphical improvements, network stabilisation, bug fixes and more diverse animations that players will notice when launching the updated game. One of the major issues people took with the previous versions involved its poor net code, this stands to see a significant improvement in 0.12.

Escape From Tarkov is less forgiving than practically any multiplayer shooter on the market. Players have a persistent inventory they can use to gear up before matches, but dying in a match means the loss of whatever equipment they took with them. With such high stakes, the newly added Hideout game location should be welcomed by the community. It offers war-weary combatants a brief moment of respite from the bloodshed where they can recover, manage their inventories and hone their shooting skills.

Another —much less safe— location opening up in 0.12 comes in the form of Reserve, a secret military base populated with as many dangerous traps and lethal AI foes as there are state-of-the-art pieces of weaponry and provisions strewn around the location. It won't be easy to make it out alive, but with high risk comes higher reward for the most skilled of players.

In-game traders will also be receiving a new competitor, Jaeger. This merchant has little need for currency, instead he offers unique items at a steep discount for players who complete his particular quests. Existing traders also offer a fresh collection of quests, and some will see a redesign.

On top of all this, hundreds of new items, pieces of equipment, ammo types, weapons and attachments will enter circulation following the release of 0.12.

Escape From Tarkov 0.12  will be released soon for PC.
