Evolve Goes F2P with Stage 2

Turtle Rock Studios' Evolve is being completely overhauled and re-launched on PC as Evolve Stage 2. Undergoing a complete gameplay re-balance with new mechanics, design tweaks and level layout changes, Evolve is seeing some significant adjustments.

Along with these changes, the big thing is the move to being Free 2 Play, monsters, hunters skins and perks will be available from playing the game using the in-game 'Silver Keys' currency. These are earned from playing matches, completing challenges, signing in every day and levelling up via the new account level progression system.

Those that already own the original Evolve will be grandfathered into the new system with 'Founder' status. Founders get 3,000 Silver Keys, all past and future Adaptations for previously owned Hunters and Monsters, dozens of skins, and some unique Founder badges and backgrounds.

Evolve Stage 2 will launch in its Beta form on Steam today, you can find out more information about the transition to F2P here and read all the patch notes here.

Now this I like the sound of. I'd love to see the game come alive again! :)

Definitely, I never played much when it initially came out due to bad experiences in the Alpha/Beta but I'll be sure to give it another try with this re-launch :)

Hopefully people don't just see this as "oh look, a dying game going F2P". Was a fantastic game.

Yeah I hope not, it genuinely seems like they've made some great changes reading the notes. I really loved the concept. No excuse not to give it another look (or even an initial one) now it's free to have a gander.

My excuse has always been "I can't afford it".

Crap...

Never got round to buying or playing so I'm interested. Hopefully they don't ruin it further with a terrible free to play model.

I just checked my Evolve and I have racked up 88 hours so far.

I always said they handled the marketing wrong with this game, the game itself is a fabulous game.

Hoping to see this come back to life and if it does, there will be one happy bunny here :)
