Expeditions: Samurai Shares First Dev Vlog
The Expeditions franchise is back, as THQ Nordic has announced the follow-up to the successful Expeditions: Rome experience. The previous entry had players leading a party of Praetorians through the Roman Empire, claiming victory across the various landscapes and shaping the future of Rome.
The future of Expeditions lies in the newest game, titled Expeditions: Samurai, which will take players into a Sengoku-era Japan. This new entry is being developed by Campfire Cabal, a studio wholly owned by publisher THQ Nordic.
There have been some complications regarding the studio, with previous developer Logic Artists rebranding, and several members from the team leaving, forming the now-THQ Nordic–owned developer that's working on the upcoming title. For those who might be confused about it, several of the developers who have worked at Expeditions are still part of the team, meaning that we'll get an authentic experience set in Sengoku Japan.

Now, Expeditions: Samurai has unveiled its first dev vlog, where we get to learn about the art of the title. It's a two-minute-long video that showcases how Campfire Cabal is tackling the new art style that the game is going to have, which is diverting from the styles of previous Expeditions titles.
A big chunk of the video talks a bit about the 3D art that the team is working with, which diverts from the 2D look that others have had. This was done to make it so that characters can have expressions throughout their dialogue options, though it hasn't landed all that great with those who have been looking forward to the next game in the Expeditions franchise.
The next few bits talk about character customisation and the environment. It's a great, in-depth look at the art, something that stood out in Expeditions: Rome before it.

If you want to learn more, the video is embedded above, titled Expeditions: Samurai | Behind the Art. For those looking to pick up Expeditions: Samurai, the title is still in its TBA state, though we know that it'll first launch on Steam Early Access.
