Explore an Ancient, Dying World in Resident Evil– and Scorn-inspired ASTHENIA with Announcement Trailer

Resident Evil is no stranger to being an inspiration for upcoming titles dabbling in the survival horror genre, but joining the ranks of Daymare comes ASTHENIA. It's CAPCOM and Scorn inspirations are far from what set this upcoming dark fantasy title apart, however, as something far more impressive follows the game.

Developed by Matthaios Lappas, ASTHENIA is a solo-developed game, featuring high-fidelity graphics and a unique artstyle and colour palette. It's set in a 3D world, where players take control of Adam and explore the titular otherworldly dimension, trying to survive against the horrors that await.

Here are some key features of ASTHENIA:

  • Explore the atmospheric location, finding items, resources, upgrades, weapons, and more.
  • Use an ancient Gauntlet as a means of defence against the foes that await you.
  • Fight back against the numerous foes of the otherworldly dimension with melee combat, environmental objects, and traps.
  • Explore the world and find hidden foes, bosses, and locations that will test your skills for rewards... or penalties.
  • Reawaken the fallen ancient guardians to help them fight alongside you.
  • Made pivotal choices that will affect the story's outcome, present different challenges, and get one of three different endings.

The title has been in development since 2019 after the developer endured some hardships, and just recently, the team grew with a co-developer joining in on the development of ASTHENIA. Here's what Manthos had to say about the game:

Hello everyone! I am Manthos, an Industry artist and the solo developer of Asthenia, which is my first game. I only recently had a new, Co-Dev join the project. I began working on this game in 2019, following some significant and devastating life events that inspired and prompted me to start this project. My goal was to develop a deeply personal story and interactive experience that explores both dark and hopeful themes within an immersive world. I hope you can find something meaningful and engaging to connect with in this game. Your feedback and opinions are highly valuable to me. Thank you for your support!
