Fallen Tear: The Ascension Issues Community Challenge to be Immortalised in Final Release

Fallen Tear: The Ascension Issues Community Challenge to be Immortalised in Final Release

Fallen Tear: The Ascension came out this month on the 17th of March 2026. Developed by Winter Crew Studios and published by CMD Studios, this Early Access title takes inspiration from Hollow Knight and is part of the modern-day metroidvania renaissance.

The Early Access version features a wide amount of content for players to enjoy, and it's already earned an 88% positive rating on Steam with 105 reviews total, giving it the Very Positive tag. It's been pretty well-received, following its successful Kickstarter campaign a few years ago.

One thing about the experience that Winter Crew Studios overlooked, however, was the final fights in the experience. In a new call-to-action released by the developers, the team had this to say:

We also want to be transparent with the community: the final 2 bosses are still using full-game stats. We know this makes them much harder than intended for the Early Access phase, and we plan to nerf them to better accommodate most players during EA.

Instead of taking it negatively, however, players took it as a challenge, and some had already spent a lot of time fighting against the two final bosses. To those successful, the team wanted to honour them by giving them a Champions Hall for defeating the pre-nerfed version of the bosses.

While that was supposed to be the end of the debacle, with a patch to nerf the two bosses set to launch semi soon, popular player demand begged the team to leave the fight as-is, at least temporarily, for a chance at the crown. Winter Crew Studios obliged, stating that the bosses will be extended until the 31st of March, before the nerf is applied.

Everyone who defeats the final two bosses before the nerf will receive a Statue of Honor in-game, and be permanently recognised in the Champions Hall. The requirements are as follows:

  • Play the game on the FALLEN TEAR mode.
  • Join the Discord Community Challenge channel.
  • Take a picture of the computer showing the early access end screen message and post it on the channel called community-challenge.

Once submitted, the team will contact the victors through DM with instructions to follow.

For those interested in partaking, Fallen Tear: The Ascension is out now on PC via Steam. Players can pick it up at a 10% discount, bringing the price down to £15.07 until the 31st of March. This is the same day that the nerf patch will be deployed.
