gamescom Opening Night Live 2025: La Divina Commedia
We’ve already seen one game based on the Inferno section of Dante’s most famous poem, but nobody’s tried to tackle the whole thing. Nobody, that is, until now. La Divina Commedia, as you might expect, is inspired by Dante’s epic tale of Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory.
We see some real in-game footage of La Davina Commedia in the reveal trailer, not just pre-rendered. It shows our unnamed protagonist, sewn mouth and massive sword, fighting a giant, erm…. thing. Look, I’m not gonna lie to you, it’s been a long time since I read the original poem, and I’m not certain how much of it I understood anyway, but I’m pretty sure it didn’t mention anything about sewing people’s mouths shut and giant sheep-skull-faced demons. There were monsters and violence, but I’m sure there wasn’t so much spectacular fighting as this!
Coming from Italian studio Jyamma Games, this interpretation of the 14th century masterpiece is an action RPG with seemingly a great deal of flair and finesse. This reveal trailer didn’t let us know when to expect the game, so it could be some way off, but if this is how it looks now, then frankly I can’t wait to see how it turns out when it’s had more spit and polish. It’s cited as being available to wishlist on Steam, but at the time of writing it wasn’t live yet. In the meantime, take a look at the trailer above to whet your appetite.
