Gigabyte Slims Down for the Summer with the Aero 14

Gigabyte Slims Down for the Summer with the Aero 14

There's always a trade-off with laptops. If you want the latest and greatest hardware, it tends to be heavy, power hungry and generally pretty bulky. It's all very well being able to carry around a powerhouse of computing but if you get a hernia while doing it, you're just not going to enjoy your game of Rocket League when you finally put it down and start playing.

Gigabyte are hoping to put an end to that trade-off with their latest model, the Aero 14. Weighing at just 1.89kg, you'd expect to see a greatly reduced feature set on this ultraportable machine, but actually it's very highly specced. The machine comes with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M or 965M depending on which model you choose, and both come with a Skylake i7 processor. Theres a QHD IPS display and thanks to the high capacity 94.24 Wh battery, should get up to 10 hours of usage according to the manufacturer.

It's not just the internals that have been given a healthy dose of TLC though, the machine has been designed with a number of external flourishes to make it more appealing to the demanding gamer community. There's a macro enabled gaming grade keyboard, and an all-metal aluminium unibody chassis as well.

If they made it any thinner, it wouldn't be able to have USBs...

This is where Type-C comes in. The sooner we can banish Type-A the better I say.
