Grand Theft Auto VI Announces Release Date Window in Trailer 1
On the 17th of September, Grand Theft Auto V turned 10 years old, marking nearly a decade-long wait since the latest instalment into the Grand Theft Auto franchise surfaced. Previously, these releases were nearer to each other, with windows of seven years (between Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto IV) and five years (between Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V), so it's an understatement to say that fans of Rockstar's franchise have been left waiting for the newest release.
With an image teasing the trailer a few days ago, it's finally time to greet Grand Theft Auto VI to the release schedule, but some fans may be disappointed with how far away it is. The official Rockstar Games YouTube channel premiered the newest trailer for the title, with a lot to see, including a lot of TikTok-esque compilations and the introduction to Lucia, who we look forward to getting to know more.
It's safe to say that it has been received with overwhelming success, with thousands of viewers pouring in even only a couple of minutes after the trailer premiered, and it's not a question as to why. Grand Theft Auto VI has been a thing of myth in terms of announcements, with many speculations and leaks that have led to the ultimate reveal, and likely one of the last exciting things to happen in 2023 for fans of Rockstar Games.
Now, however, for the bad news. At the end of the 1:30-minute trailer, we get a glimpse at the release date — coming 2025. It's certainly better than being left in the dark wondering when the game will release, but it is still quite a ways away before we can even start considering seeing a narrower release window, as whether it'll be at the start or the end of the year is up in the air.
For many, it's been an exciting day, and we look forward to learning more about Grand Theft Auto VI as more trailers release and more information surfaces. But for now what we know about GTA VI is that it's coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2024.
