H1Z1 is a game that had been in Steam Early Access from the 15th of January, 2015 to the 28th of February, 2018, and has changed a great deal since its initial inception as a permadeath zombie survival simulator. Now, H1Z1 is a name carried by a Battle Royale-style game which has just released in its beta stage on PlayStation 4.
The PlayStation version of the game is said to be completely different than its PC counterpart, featuring 15-minute matches and reworked gameplay. What isn't different is the extremely invasive lootbox system, a feature the devs decided was so important that it is placed at the top of the first menu you see after you enter the game.
Battle Royale fans now have a new game to try out in H1Z1, so long as they have a PS4. Along with Fortnite and, eventually, Paladins.
