How to Unlock the New League of Legends Champion for Free: Locke

It's finally time, as Locke has been released into the League of Legends, allowing all sorts of players to check out the newest kid on the block. The Ashen Exorcist is a midlane magic assassin, who's perfect for doing quick executes and getting out, or pressing his advantage and scaling well into the late game.

As of late, Riot Games has been making the acquisition of new champions a free endeavour through a limited-time quest. Usually, this has to do with the champions' specific kit, teaching players how to don the role of the new champion before getting hands-on with them.

For Locke, the new mage assassin, it's going to require some bursting. Here's the exact wording of the quest, alongside a picture of its requirement:

Deal 40% of a champion's health within 2.5 seconds 30 times.

While it sounds tough, it's worth noting that this can happen in most queue forms. While we didn't test it on the likes of Co-op vs. AI, ARAM: Mayhem is a perfect contender to get the mission completed — heavy hitters, assassins, and even mages can easily chunk 40% of a champion's max health with the right augments. We personally completed it with Kassadin.

There's a second quest for a limited-time emote, for die-hard fans who want to dedicate themselves to Locke. After finishing Locke (1 of 2), the second version releases, giving players a chance to unlock the item. Here's what you'll need to do:

Play 5 games as Locke.

This one's a little more straightforward, though it's worth noting that there is no way to skip Locke (1 of 2). Unlocking Locke via the Blue Essence shop doesn't progress the quest, so instead, summoners will have a Locke Champion Permanent in their loot, and still have to complete the first quest to get access to the emote.
