Hytale Returns to Original Team After Negotiating with Riot Games
Five months after the announcement of closure from Riot Games about the upcoming Hytale title, it seems like Simon Collins-Laflamme has managed to recover it. After countless delays, a long time of silence, and no new gameplay peeks, Hytale was cancelled, as Riot Games helped the employees find new avenues of work.
The story wasn't over there, however, as Simon reached out to Riot Games in a desperate bid to save the game that he'd seen so much potential from. He'd mentioned that it'd be a long time before we heard any news, and went silent for the following months, as negotiations take a long time, especially for entire IPs and such big titles.
Five months later, a new post has been shared on the Hytale website, written by the founder of Hypixel named "HYTALE IS SAVED!". Simon gives a quick overview about the situation before moving on to talk a bit more in-depth about his plans, what the future looks like, and what you can expect.
The main point to keep in mind is that the game is returning to the legacy engine that was "close to release" a few years prior, before Riot Games pivoted to a new in-development engine. With this, Hytaleis set to come out in a barebones state with some modding opportunities and Alpha-level content, but to fans and believers to help shape the future.
Simon warns that a lot of it will be in bad shape: crashes, bugs, issues, but that they want to release early regardless to get it in the hands of players who want to report bugs, give feedback, and help the long-term vision. He promises to fund Hytale for 10 years of development, hoping to see it come to fruition as the title the team was hoping to release.
