In Sound Mind Developer Commentary and Gameplay

Announced back in June 2020, In Sound Mind is a first person psychological horror title where the player has to travel through memories using ‘tapes’. Each ‘tape’ tells a story about a different person. As you awake in the corridors of an inexplicable building, you find the environment takes on a life of its own and leads you to discover a series of victims, all exposed to the same experimental chemical. In your search for answers, bizarre visions emerge and introduce a host of imposing horrors These characters and their struggles shape the game, the story, and the mechanics. As described by independent development team Modus Games themselves, everything can be used to its full potential in the game, such as the use of a mirror shard as a weapon and a tool to look around.

Inspired by Half-Life 2 (specifically Ravenholm) and Resident Evil 2 & Resident Evil 7, Modus Games looked at these examples when wanting to create a horror game. In the vein of Half-Life, players are always in full control of where they move and where they look, even during platforming and action sequences. With music by TheLivingTombstone, famed for his Five Nights at Freddy related songs on YouTube, In Sound Mind is set to launch in 2021 for Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
