League of Legends Introduces Highly Requested Feature to Reduce Inting in Ranked Game Modes

League of Legends Introduces Highly Requested Feature to Reduce Inting in Ranked Game Modes

The latest League of Legends Dev Update dropped, and we got to learn a bit about the measures that Riot Games is going to be employing throughout the course of 2026 Season 2 Act 1: Pandemonium. This touched on a lot of topics, and one of the most important ones is combating griefing in Ranked games.

It's been a well-known fact that the League of Legends community fosters toxic players, which has made the experience far from enjoyable for those who have engaged with it. As a competitive team title with up to nine random players total, it opens room for all sorts of malicious practices, including inting (intentionally feeding), boosting (players of higher skill playing in lower-level accounts to help friends get to higher ranks), and more.

This has been an ongoing battle for Riot Games for some time, as League of Legends has been slowly receiving new updates that help with the overall toxicity that the Ranked game mode has seen. The last few seasons have incorporated all sorts of gameplay elements to prevent toxic behaviour in matches, and a new system is rolling out to help save players' time in lengthy games.

Revealed was the new surrenders for inting system, which will allow the system to prompt a surrender vote once it catches malicious intent, such as selling all items, a high number of deaths, and more. This gives players affected by the negative behaviour a chance to surrender for free, not costing any LP (the system that defines a player's rank) to the victims, giving full LP loss to the bad actors, and giving win LP to the enemy team.

The offending player — and any members in their team — will not have any say in the surrender vote, meaning that the players losing their time to an unwinnable match will have sole say. This should make Ranked matches less frustrating when players get tilted and decide to give up on the experience, all the while saving hours of playtime to those who are struggling the most with the actions of other, toxic players.

The system will be rolling out in the coming patches, and it marks a new milestone in Riot Games' long-standing fight against inting and player misbehaviour.
