League of Legends Testing a New ARAM-specific Subscription for Skins

League of Legends Testing a New ARAM-specific Subscription for Skins

Riot Games released its new Dev Update for League of Legends 2026 Season 2 Act 2: Pandemonium, which touched on some upcoming changes coming to the game. The main topic for this Dev Update was ARAM: Mayhem, which is an exciting thing for players enjoying the for-fun casual game modes that the game has been getting, and it's had some great news for players all around.

One interesting piece of information we got is the new ARAM: Wardrobe subscription, which is going to be only for the Howling Abyss game mode. It's the first monthly subscription coming to League of Legends aside from the Xbox Game Pass collaboration to unlock all champions or the Season Pass that launches occasionally, but its implementation may be a bit less controversial.

Instead of making the monthly subscription a limited-time service that includes FOMO tactics (wouldn't be the first for Riot Games with Radiant skins, to be honest), it's instead focused on the cosmetic side of things. ARAM-only players will understand the struggle of loving to play dozens — sometimes over a hundred for the dedicated players — and not being able to afford skins for them all.

Prior to the rework for the League of Legends Battle Pass, the way ARAM fanatics acquired skins was through the unlimited orb farm that would require hundreds of games dedicated to get dozens of skins secured. Through this method, I was able to get up to 257 skins, with plenty of Legacy, Legendary, and even Ultimate skins (I was lucky enough to get Elementalist Lux and Spirit Guard Udyr through them).

While that was retired, a new variation has taken place that might be an all-around better deal for ARAM-only accounts. The ARAM: Wardrobe, then, is a 1350 RP subscription (costing about £10.25) that'll last for 30 days, and it'll unlock a wide array of skins for the player to enjoy.

The subscription will allow players to use most Epic-tier skins released before 2026 in both ARAM and ARAM: Mayhem modes. Epic-tier skins are the ones priced at 1350 or lower, meaning that, although the explosive Legendary and Ultimate ones won't be available, nearly everything else will be.

There are some exceptions that Riot Games didn't touch on in the Dev Update, likely correlated to Legacy skins, but it seems like a great deal for those who don't want to move from ARAM as a game mode overall. With 172 champions to play as, it's difficult to get the best skins for every character without spending thousands of dollars, so a quick subscription might be the solution to skinless woes.

That said, ARAM: Wardrobe is only being tested in Oceania and Brazil for the next few patches, before being rolled out to the whole world. It's still an exciting update for players to look forward to, especially those who can no longer stomach the Summoner's Rift.
