LEGO Super Mario Revealed

After a Mario-based partnership between Nintendo and LEGO was teased several days ago on Twitter, LEGO has officially revealed its upcoming line of Super Mario LEGO playsets. Unlike other LEGO toys however, these Super Mario sets take influence from their videogame source material with an innovative type of interactivity, outlined in the trailer above.

The sets allow players to build real-life Mario courses and watch an electronic, Bluetooth enabled Mario figure interact with the assembled elements in real-time. While the trailer mainly shows Brick-Mario reacting by collecting coins, a small screen on his chest suggests that he is programmed to provide feedback on a number of potential in-level elements: pitfalls, level completion and '?' blocks—to name a few.

Julia Goldin, Chief Marketing Officer at LEGO, expresses excitement for this unorthodox line of toys, stating that: "With this experience we will help millions of kids with love for Mario to engage and play in a completely new way".

LEGO Super Mario is set to launch later this year, with more information due in the future.
