Mirthwood Casually Announces Major Upcoming Update and Port in Random Steam Post

We live in an era of the videogame industry where heavy hitters are doing their best to make big deals about everything. From free updates to selling you DLC, all forms of marketing come in the form of big trailers trying to capture a modicum of your attention.

Much like Bethesda's shadow drop of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (which also had a big launch trailer in the form of a one-hour-long livestream), sometimes companies like to steer from the norm and keep us on our toes. Bad Ridge Games and V Publishing, who you might know for Mirthwood, have proudly partaken in the timeless culture of doing what you want against all standards and expectations.

While the latest major update to Mirthwood came in the form of Marriage on the 13th of March, the development team is far from over, and it's a refreshing change of pace from what we're used to in the industry. The update, which shadow dropped on the 6th of May, gives players a look at what's coming, and it's not only a highly requested feature but also an exciting one.

In the Steam news post, the team talks about the upcoming co-op functionality coming to Mirthwood, letting you take a friend into the experience and enjoy the fantasy adventure together. We already know that it'll be featured in local co-op, which means you'll need to rely on Steam Remote Play and streaming to play with buddies across the world, and you'll have the opportunity to manage your own inventory and skills.

The other major update comes in the form of their partnership to bring a Nintendo Switch port for players. Though this is great news for those looking forward to play on the go, it has eaten into development time, causing other roadmap items to be delayed a bit.

However, this has required updating our Unity version, which is unexpectedly eating into some of the development time set aside for other roadmap items.

Despite this, the team looks forward to even more: children, instruments, and a teaser for "something larger". So we can stay tuned for more exciting information about the updates sometime in the future!
