Mirthwood Latest Update Brings Two Highly Requested Features

Developed by Bad Ridge Games and published by V Publishing, Mirthwood is an RPG sandbox title set in an enchanting mediaeval world. From decorating your homestead, exploring, meeting new villagers, adventuring, fighting, and more, it's a great magical sim for players to partake.

Having launched on the 6th of November 2024, it's been receiving a slew of content updates, slowly increasing support and bringing players more things to make the Freelands their home. This time around, the content update has brought two highly requested features to the title, making your house a home.

Brand-new to the title, you'll be able to experience Mirthwood in co-op mode, bringing in local co-op for players (or using Steam Remote Play for online versions). The drop-in-and-out style lets you start-and-stop at your leisure, meaning your savefile won't be bound to your co-op partner if you wish to continue your adventures by your lonesome.

That doesn't mean that player 2 has no agency, however — not only can both players marry one another, but the second player will retain all their inventory, levels, and skills, giving them the capability to create their own builds. If one of you falters in combat, you'll be able to help each other out with the new "Downed" mechanic, which introduces reviving.

That's not all, though — married characters, either with another player or NPCs, will be able to have children with the second half of this update: kids! Get married, acquire a Crib, and try for a baby, getting a mixture of appearances and traits from both parents.

Once they're born, they'll grow through four stages: baby, toddler, youth, and adult, and start having requests for the players or helping out around the farm. After reaching youth, they'll begin helping out around the farm occasionally, and finally, when they're adults, they'll move to a nearby town and have their own life.

This is all available for players to enjoy right now, but that's not everything that the team has in store for Mirthwood. Stay tuned for more updates over 2025!
