Nightmare Reaper Announces Upcoming Co-op Mode with Release Date Announcement

Blazing Bit Games released its second title, Nightmare Reaper, on the 28th of March 2022. Since then, the 3D pixelated boomer with roguelite elements has received a big following, with reviews nearly reaching the Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam.

Now, several years after the launch, Blazing Bit Games has announced that the team isn't done with the title — not yet. While Nightmare Reaper will be receiving improvements to the New Game+ elements, more excitingly, was the mention of two-to-four-player co-op gameplay.

The trailer starts off with an animated section, showing off the characters working together to bring down the hordes of nightmarish creatures. Then, we get a look at all of the gameplay first-hand, showcasing several characters raining bullets on the enemies.

The multiplayer is fully integrated into the campaign, allowing players to experience the whole story with their friends joining them along the way. For those who want to embrace a bit more hectic gameplay, however, there's also a deathmatch game mode, letting players take arms against each other with randomly generated weapons.

Here's what's coming in the free update:

• A deathmatch mode with randomly generated weapons.
• New elite enemies.
• 15 "shiny" weapon variations with new mechanics.
• A new mini-game.
• A new skill tree.

Paired with the 80 unique weapons that can drop, with over 30 enchantment types, and the mixture of manually-built and random level generation, this makes it a great opportunity to jump back into Nightmare Reaper. And for those looking to join and invite their friends, the title is out now on PC via Steam and GOG for £20.99, with the co-op update coming on the 17th of March.
