Oculus Founder Personally Delivers First Oculus Rift Headset
This week saw the launch of the Oculus Rift. The highly anticipated VR headset from Oculus Inc. The device was the most funded project on Kickstarter at the time and pre-orders for the first batch of the unit sold out in mere hours, despite the hefty price tag. Four years in the making, this has been a labour of love for those involved, and to reflect that Palmer Lucky took to his car for a special delivery of the very first unit.
Luckey and some of the team behind the unit signed the very first rift to be delivered. But it wasn't just a signed unit that made this unique. Ross Martin, the very first customer, received his unit straight from the hands of Luckey himself, who had travelled across America to find out just how cold it is in Alaska, as well as personally deliver CV1 number one. Apparently, nobody told the Californian that shorts and flip flops were a bad idea where he was going.
