Organise Your Digital Steam Library with New Application / Game BOXROOM Announcement
The death of physical media was supposed to be a positive in the videogame industry, promising lower prices for the consumer. The reality, unfortunately, has been bleaker than that, as companies remove ownership entirely, and players pay for extended rentals of their titles rather than owning what they're playing.
While the debate between digital and physical media won't be going away any time soon, and companies continue to push the envelope towards digital-only (looking at you, Nintendo Key Cards), BOXROOM seeks to create a small reprieve from the uncertain future regarding ownership. Featuring an all-new way to organise games, it's a nostalgic look at videogame ownership and a culture that current-gen gamers have long since been unable to experience because of the prominence of digital spaces.
BOXROOM is a building and designing simulator that allows players to create their own living space. Bring down walls, decorate the world, set up shelves, and then organise your Steam game library at your leisure, bringing back the organisation element of physical media and the ritual of browsing through your owned experiences and sorting them in whatever order you see fit.

It's not just a pretty space to look at, however, as it invites players to decorate their virtual rooms with their titles, but it also offers more beyond that. Once everything is set up and ready to go, BOXROOM can pick your Steam games and boot them itself, meaning that you can revisit your virtual space and pick the titles you want to play, old-school titles.
With plenty of gamers owning several hundred, and upwards of thousands, of titles, it might be an arduous task to organise, but it mixes the cosy element of simulation games while mixing in real-life practicality. While it'll never be better than to launch the Steam games straight from your library (as it will require an additional boot), it offers players the chance to organise their libraries in many ways and visualise them in a different style.
The official trailer released on the Pantaloon YouTube channel offers a pretty in-depth look at what players can expect. With a robust customisation (including gridless decoration) and faux cases for your owned digital games, it's a promising look at what's to come. Owned titles even have images to sift through within the cases.

For those interested in checking it out, a demo is available right now! BOXROOM will launch in Early Access, with a development cycle between six and nine months, with a major content update planned every month after launch. It's set to release sometime in Q2 2026.
