Preorders Live for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

The upcoming, VR-only survival horror title, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners from Skydance Interactive and Skybound Entertainment is available to preorder now for Oculus VR devices and the HTC Vive. It's set to release 23rd January 2020 for the aforementioned headsets, with a Spring 2020 release window for the game's PlayStation VR release and a vague "later in 2020" window for a native release on the Oculus Quest (although the Quest can run a non-native version via a link cable on the 23rd January).

The game puts players in the shoes of a survivor in the popular Walking Dead universe; not in Atlanta like series fans would expect, but New Orleans. Whatever parts of the city aren't being ravaged by the undead, are fought over among the remaining humans. Survival will require quick reflexes and a quicker mind as players traverse the crumbling city streets in first-person, making tactical choices to get through every encounter. Scaling buildings for a good vantage-point, grabbing zombie skulls in order to plunge a knife into their eye socket or hiding out of sight with a silenced weapon are all viable options for taking on the walker horde. With an array of melee, ranged and craftable weapons on offer, the choice is open to approach combat encounters in any way players see fit.

The choice in combat also extends to choice in face-to-face interactions: players will encounter fellow survivors in the world and be forced to choose whether to treat them as a friend or foe. Player decisions will have a bearing on the game's story and the ultimate fate of New Orleans as a whole.

The standard edition of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners will release for Oculus Rift, Rift S and HTC Vive 23rd January 2020 for £30.99. The PlayStation VR version will release Spring 2020 and the Oculus Quest version later in 2020. Check out the trailer above for a look at gameplay.
