Ratchet and Clank Movie Trailer Unveiled

It's been a while since we've heard from Insomniac's Lombax and Robot duo, with no game released since the PS3 outing Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus was released in 2013. The duo were ubiquitous in the days of the PS2 and PS3, becoming synonymous with Sony's machines, but they have yet to see a new-gen outing. That's set to change next year, but not necessarily in the way you might expect.

Insomniac have been using the time since the last release wisely. The series is to be rebooted in an altogether unconventional way, by way of a full length feature film which re-imagines the events of the original 2002 game and features some big names such as John Goodman and Sylvester Stallone alongside series stalwarts David Kaye and James Arnold Taylor. As shown in the above trailer, the film will be hitting cinemas in April 2016 and a PS4 game is set to follow at around the same time.

It's great that they retained the original cast, as they could very easily have just recast with big names.

But isn't it a bit cheeky to release a game of the movie, which is literally just a remake of Ratchet & Clank, without having to label it a remake?

Apparently the game will be a completely new game with a new story rather than a remake.
