Retailer Game to Relist on Stock Exchange

After two years in administration, which resulted in some Game stores and all Gamestation stores closing, Game have set their sights on relisting on the stock exchange.

The float could happen before June, which would value the company at £400 million. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 launches couldn't have happened at a better time - except to maybe stop Gamestation being closed down in the first place.

They will trade under the name Game Digital, presumably to make titling headlines for stories like this easier to write.

In an email sent out to loyalty card holders, Game said a few words about the relisting and announced that they are going to reward 20,000 loyalty card holders with "virtual loyalty shares" worth £100, so long as they float before 1st July. However, 18,000 of those holders have been chosen already, selected from "our most loyal" (not employees, as stated in the Terms & Conditions). They go on to explain how you can get a chance to become one of the other 2,000 people getting these virtual shares:

We’re giving every customer who purchases any product in any of our stores or through our website between 19th May 2014 and 5th June 2014 the chance to be chosen as one of the lucky 2,000. 

So what are these virtual loyalty shares? They explain in the Terms & Conditions page of the website.

If you are selected for £100 of virtual loyalty shares, you will be able to redeem them for points, to spend on anything in store. You know there's a however coming, right? You may only do so in October 2014, 2015 or 2016 - or March 2015 or 2016. And it can be for either 50% or 100% of your shares.

And just like the shares floated on the stock market, their value "will fluctuate broadly in line with the value of the Ordinary Shares". Also, if reaches £200, they will be automatically converted to reward points. If you still have them waiting there come 30th June 2017, they will also be automatically converted to reward points.
