SEGA Mega Drive Mini Library To Contain 42 Games

SEGA has announced that the SEGA Mega Drive Mini will be expanded to have a total of 42 games from its arcade era. These arcade retro games are being ported by the development company, M2. A planned launched date is set for 19th September this year.

The SEGA Mega Drive Mini console is based on the Model 1 Genesis which launched over three decades ago. SEGA states the that model will be approximately 55% smaller than the original Model 1 Genesis. Included with the SEGA Mega Drive Mini will be two replica three-button USB Genesis controllers, one USB to Micro-B power cable, one power adapter (North America only), and one HDMI cable.

Unfortunately, the original Mega Drive controllers will not work with the SEGA Mega Drive Mini. The full list of games that will be available are:

  • Landstalker

Tetris, Probotector and Landstalker are the only ones I wasn't expecting. That's because I don't remember hearing about Landstalker before.

Oh, and I didn't recall World of Illusion either, if I'm honest.
