Sony Acquires Bluepoint Games

Sony Interactive Entertainment has just announced that they have acquired another studio, Bluepoint Games, adding to their rapidly growing first-party studios family.

Sony Interactive has recently announced that they are acquiring Texas based studio, Bluepoint Games. Bluepoint Games has been remastering and remaking games and has been partners with PlayStation for a long time. Bluepoint has worked on games including Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and the most recent one of the best looking PS5 games, Demon Souls Remake.

Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation studios, in a blog post said, “With each of its projects, Bluepoint has raised the bar on console-defining visuals and gameplay, and the studio’s vast expertise in world-building and character creation will be a huge plus for future PlayStation Studios properties.”

The acquisition hasn’t come as a surprise to many as it was first accidentally announced by the PlayStation Japan Twitter account when it had acquired Housemarque back in June:

What remains to be seen what Bluepoint’s next game will be, another remake or a new IP. Nevertheless, this announcement has been a long time coming and a great addition to the PlayStation Studios family!
