Sony Pictures are Helping Bring the Rabbids to the Big Screen

Sony Pictures are Helping Bring the Rabbids to the Big Screen

Last year it was reported that Ubisoft had been bitten by the acting bug. The company told press that they were preparing  film adaptations of Watch Dogs, Ghost Recon, Far Cry and everyone's favourite zany characters, the Rabbids. We discovered that Ubisoft would retain full creative control but would select screenwriters, directors, actors etc to help make these movies.

The Rabbids film was said to be a live-action film where the Rabbids star as CG created characters in the same way as The Smurfs.  We were also told that the films would not simply use the existing story material from the gaming franchises.

These are not adaptations. We will create a brand new story. Always.

- Ubisoft Motion Picture CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet

We have now discovered that Ubisoft have called in movie-making giants Sony Pictures to help The Rabbids reach their full potential.

Sony Pictures has tremendous experience developing hybrid live-action-and-animated blockbusters for audiences around the world, which makes them a natural fit for what we want to achieve with a Rabbids film. This deal deepens our partnership with Sony Pictures and highlights our holistic approach to bringing Ubisoft's brands to new audiences while still maintaining the brands' creative integrity.

There is currently no other information available on the currently unnamed Rabbids film.
