Stardew Valley Receives Multiplayer

Stardew Valley Receives Multiplayer

Fancy building a farm with your friends? Well, now you can, as the multiplayer beta for Stardew Valley is available now.

If you haven't heard of Stardew Valley, you've probably been living under some kind of boulder. Developed by ConcernedApe, it sees you, an office jockey looking for a way out, taking over your grandfather's dilapidated farm to expand and get it back the way it should be. All the while hoping it doesn't end like Mr Jones' Manor Farm, with all animals meeting up to discuss how to overthrow tyrannous humans.

OK, maybe that doesn't happen. But you can marry someone, and if you take part in multiplayer, you can even take other human players in marriage. You can play with those on your friend lists, via a friend code, or get together with those on your local LAN. To be able to play online, you just need to already have your own home.

There are instructions on how to access the beta on the official blog here. At the moment, it's exclusive so Steam, but GOG.com players will get the beta soon. Console players should receive the update shortly after the beta period is complete.

Stardew Valley released in February 2016 on (ready?) Linux, Nintendo Switch, PC (even Mac!), PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Xbox One. Whew.
