The Caligula Effect 2 Comes to the West

The Caligula Effect 2, sequel to The Caligula Effect and its remake The Caligula Effect: Overdose, releases in North America on 19th October followed by a European release on the 22nd. The game was released in Japan on 24th June earlier this year.

Developed by FuRyu Corporation and published by NIS America, The Caligula Effect 2 is a Japanese role-playing game that centers around the Go-Home Club, a group of high school students that want to escape the false reality of Redo and return to the real world. The game keeps elements from its predecessors, such as the Imaginary Chain battle system, the Stigma weapon system, and the Casualty Link quest and party recruitment system. The game also keeps story elements like the Go-Home Club, Musicians, Virtuadolls, and false realities but with all new characters and worlds along with the new story. Despite the similarities, The Caligula Effect 2 is a stand-alone story and The Caligula Effect and its remake are not directly connected to it.

The Caligula Effect 2 also features a Vocaloid inspired soundtrack and a story by writer Tadashi Satomi (of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series fame) and The Caligula Effect director Takuya Yamanaka.

The Caligula Effect 2 will be available on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. A review of the game can be read here.
