The Captain is Dead - Bridging the Gap Between Board Game and Videogame

So what is The Captain is Dead? It's based off an existing board game, but to compare this to the likes of virtual Monopoly would be doing it a disservice. It's more of a half-way point—a bridge if you will—between board game and videogame. Available now on PC (via Steam), iOS and Android, this heavily stylised space-faring strategy (catastrophe?) title will see players re-enacting the kind of scenarios common to the latter 10 minutes of your average sci-fi TV show... if the captain were to perish, leaving the remaining crew running around like cats in a thunderstorm.

In developer Thunderbox Entertainment's latest series of promotional videos, we're introduced to the crew, or what's left of them. They each bring some unique skill to the ship which will serve the crew well in their effort to survive sans captain. In the most recent of the bunch, we meet the Chief Engineer. They're really good at fixing the jump core and not a lot else, it seems.

Take a look at the rest of the videos on Thunderbox Entertainment's YouTube channel. See if you can spot the voices of Kevan Brighting (The Stanley Parable, Portal) and Elias Toufexis (Star Trek Discovery, Deus Ex) hiding in amongst them.

The Captain is Dead  is out now on PC (via Steam), iOS and Android.
