The Spell Brigade Shares Ninth Post-launch Update
Bolt Blaster Games released their bullet heaven mage title, The Spell Brigade, on the 29th of April 2026, inviting players to jump into the co-op action and take on the role of wizards. It was an exciting launch for a title that had spent a while on Early Access, accruing several thousand reviews that brought its review score up to Very Positive, with 14,000 reviews at the time of writing.
However, the 1.0 release had a few controversies that threatened the good rating the team had accrued over the years. Several complaints surfaced from returning players, like unnecessarily grindy gameplay, which made progression feel like a slog to get through.
So, Bolt Blaster Games took the feedback seriously, and since its launch just a few months ago, the team has pushed out nine patches to fix the issues, improve, rework, and rebalance the game based on the needs of the players. The latest Patch 9 update brings a slew of improvements and changes for players to enjoy, keeping in line with the previous eight and bringing more content to fix the issues players brought up.

Here's a bit of an overview of what The Spell Brigade's ninth patch brought:
- Seven new scrolls
- Four new quests
- Nine gameplay improvements (pinging, HUD, and more)
- Visual improvements
- Five balance changes to several weapons and scrolls
- Quality of life improvements
It's an exciting update, especially as it's bringing more for players to unlock and enjoy. Furthermore, the team announced that there will be even more content past the 1.0 release, with a new roadmap that shares a look at what sort of content we can expect.
For those who are excited to check out The Spell Brigade, it seems like after the nine patches, now might be the time to start looking at getting into the experience!
