Timberborn Smashes Previous All-time Peak Following Full Release
Mechanistry has finally released Timberborn 1.0, the official feature-complete version of the city builder colony sim title where players take on the role of astute beavers. Released in Steam Early Access on the 15th of September 2021, this title has been preparing for its launch for nearly five years, and it's had a generational run.
As far as Early Access titles go, you could never go wrong with Timberborn's success, which reached — and kept — its prestigious Overwhelmingly Positive review rating on Steam, remaining consistent throughout its whole release. After seven major content updates, system overhauls, and new additions, it was time for the full release, and it's been a huge success for the team.
Launched on the 12th of March, its first few days after release weren't too shabby in terms of numbers, beating out the previous record-holding day, which was the release of Timberborn's seventh major content update. Ziplines & Tubeways saw over 13,000 players joining the experience, which was the first update to beat out the original all-time peak set in its Early Access launch day.

Now, after the first weekend since Timberborn launched in 1.0, the number has been beaten, and not by a small margin, either. The new all-time concurrent player record doubled the previous one, as on Sunday, the 15th of March 2026, just a little over 25,000 players were enjoying the experience at the same time.
While it's not a flawless metric for success, all-time concurrent players is a great opportunity to learn more about the goings-on in the industry. Timberborn's 1.0 launch also saw it earn the #38th spot in top sellers, which is a monumental success for Mechanistry.
We can't wait to see what else the team will come up with, or whether Timberborn will receive some further post-launch support. The title came out on the 12th of March 2026 for PC.
