V Rising Developer Announces Early Development of New In-universe Game

Stunlock Studios' first foray into the public eye was with its free-to-play MOBA competitor, Battlerite. Though the title's niche take on the multiplayer online battle arena didn't take off the way the team wanted, it was a show that the developer knew how to make epic battle elements.

Now, the success of V Rising came as no surprise to those who followed Stunlock Studios, introducing the combat into a PvPvE open world survival crafting experience. Taking control of a vampire, players have to survive with the vampirism curse, grow in power, and build their epic castle, engaging in a sprawling, beautiful world with plenty of foes to fight.

Now, V Rising came out of Early Access on the 8th of May 2024, and saw a large amount of success, even moving on to the various rehauls and extra additions the team did. But in the previous dev update, titled Midnight Reflections, Stunlock Studios announced that, as it stands, V Rising is feature complete. With Invaders of Oakveil out in the world, the team has begun the process to move on from V Rising and work on its newest project.

In the latest dev update titled The Next Era, Stunlock Studios confirms and doubles down on this stance, stating that a 1.2 update for V Rising is not in development. While the survival crafting title will still be supported bug fixes and balance patches will be based on community polls and feedback; no new major content updates are on their way, except for perhaps more official modding support.

However, Stunlock Studios is working on a brand-new experience that the team states is their most ambitious project yet. Here's what the dev blog had to say about it:

Put plainly, Stunlock Studios is working on a new game set in the beautiful, strange, and gothic world of V Rising. This will be our most ambitious project yet in our 15-year history of making games, and we can’t wait to begin this journey with you. The hunt for blood is about to evolve. 

Using the knowledge acquired throughout the development of the major content updates and the release of V Rising, the team is looking forward to creating a brand-new, ambitious project. It's still in early development, but it's exciting to know that the developer is working on yet another outing, and if ambitions meet the new skills acquired, it could be one for the ages.

While we won't be hearing updates about the game for quite some time, the team does state that we'll be hearing about it every so often, receiving information about the progression. We'll have to stay tuned for more information on what we can expect and more content that awaits us.
