Watch Stardew Valley’s 10-year Anniversary Retrospective Video!
In case you’ve missed all the waves around it, Stardew Valley just hit its 10-year anniversary. This beloved farming simulator doesn’t need an introduction, what with its title of one of the most highly rated games on Steam... and possibly ever.
Eric Barone, known mostly as his developer name ConcernedApe, thanked his community for all the support and love in a recent Steam post celebrating the game’s decade. In it, he writes:
Hello everyone,
Today is the 10-year Anniversary of Stardew Valley.
Back when Stardew first came out, I was worried it might be a flop. Now, 10 years later, it’s one of the highest rated games on Steam, and has sold over 50 million copies worldwide. It’s been quite a journey.
Of course, none of this would be possible without you, the players. So I would like to thank all of you for playing this game, for being part of the community, your love for the characters, the billions of crops you’ve harvested, and even your screams of terror as the serpents swarm over you in the skull caverns.
He mentions that he’s working on update 1.7, with which he’s hoping to add more depth to the game and avoid bloating with too many new systems. While there’s no release date yet, he’s confident players will appreciate what’s coming!
At the end, he ends it with a joke as he reveals the two new romanceable characters, adding:
Oh, and you’ll be able to marry Clint and Sandy.
I know you’ve all been dying to marry Clint... right?
...guys??
..........
Welp....
Lastly, ConcernedApe shared a 22-minute celebration video that celebrates Stardew Valley. It showcases some of the early builds of the game with a voice-over talking about his experience as the developer.
Congratulations to ConcernedApe on the anniversary! Stardew Valley is available on Steam, GOG Games, Humble Store, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile, both Android and iOS.
