Weyrdlets : Idle Desktop Pets is Going Premium!

Developed and published by Weyrdworks, Weyrdlets : Idle Desktop Pets is exactly what the title describes — a desktop companion, though it has grown to offer even more.

What started off as a simple title that accompanied players throughout their days has received numerous updates, many of which include various mini-games. Thisis showcased by the Fishing & Friends patch, which revamped the activity and now allows players to ride around on a boat and catch fish with friends.

Here are some of the content Weyrdletshas received throughout the many updates:

• Over 1,000 items.
• Farming orchards.
• Fishing.
• Desktop microgames.
• Multiplayer games.
• Sports Day.
• Worble pet racing.
• A social hub.
• Productivity widgets.

In a recent Steam post, the team opens up about the player feedback, where the community has voiced their dislike for free-to-play titles with monetisation. In hopes of remedying this, the team is making Weyrdlets a paid title and reworking the in-game economy.

Every player who owns the game before the change will get to keep it without any extra charge, meaning they will have access to the full paid version. The following changes to the economy will happen in update 2.0:

• Every in-game item can be bought via Calcubot.
• Oskar will no longer hoard items seasonally.
• DLCs will come at a later time, though with the intention of expanding the game meaningfully, not pay-to-win.
• Any Jellystars purchased will continue to be owned.

While it's not clear if the microtransactions will be fully removed, it does seem like every item will be acquiarable with non-premium currency.
