When is the Steam Controller Going to Release?
Finally, after months of silence and wondering where Valve's hardware announced last year was, we received some big information. Though unfortunately, there isn't anything to be said about the Steam Machine and the Steam Frame outside of what we already know (that they've been delayed to the first half of 2026 from the Q1 2026 launch).
Just recently, Valve finally announced the imminent launch of the Steam Controller, which is a breath of fresh air for those who have been waiting for news. Since the Q1 launch was missed, it seemed like Valve intended to keep every bit of hardware tied to one another, likely for an explosive, all-inclusive launch for the three pieces announced.
Unfortunately, after the RAMpocalypse caused by AI, those numbers had to be delayed and changed. One unexpected shift, however, was that the Steam Controller was nowhere to be seen, even though it contains no RAM or memory, both of which have been affected in every market globally.

Still, however, without much information about the why of the delay, Valve retained the Steam Controller launch, which was one of the most exciting releases for players around the world. Now, months after the announcement trailer, we'll finally be able to enjoy the Steam Controller, with all the bells and whistles that make it a perfect inclusion to any PC gaming rig
The Steam Controller is set to release on the 4th of May 2026, which is just a few days away, and players can already wishlist it on Steam. It's worth noting that it'll only be available in the same regions that the Steam Deck can currently be purchased in, and that it'll be priced outside of usual, first-party controllers, with the Steam Controller costing £85 from the expected range of £60 to £70.
