Will the Luma Island Player Progress Reset After Pirates Update? Learn More Here

Feel Free Games' Luma Island has been off to a good start, seeing an overall positive reception from critics and gamers alike. Following from the successful 20th of November launch, it's now looking forward to its first expansion, but there was a catch.

Luma Island's Pirates update is slated to bring a large amount of content for players, ensuring the capability to revisit the title, but in that same size came the problemWith the arrival of Pirates, it would render previous save files unusable due to a fundamental incompatibility with previous saves and the farm.

The general gist is that technical limitations would cause issues, including a changed farm start map and difficulty options for players to select. With this in mind, in order to access the Pirates content, players were going to need to restart their saves and start from zero.

This, of course, brought a bit of controversy from the community, as it caused issues with those who were most loyal to the game being unable to enjoy it from their one save file. Thankfully, however, the team has found a fix for the issues with some clever workarounds.

There are now two ways to enjoy the Luma Island Pirates content:

  1. Bring your progress with you, including inventory items. Things like your farm (animals, crops, buildings) will be placed in a separate chest in the new farm, while tool upgrades, blueprints, craft benches, buildings, and more, will be refunded as money in the same chest. Meanwhile, Quest progress, story-related items, and progress outside of the farm will not carry over.
  2. Start a fresh save for Luma Island Pirates.

The official launch date for the first major update will be announced later on during the Wholesome Direct 2025.
