Wrath: Aeon of Ruin's first major early access update

With the release of Wrath: Aeon of Ruin's first major Early Access update, we've now been introduced to several new things. Not only did we get a new level in The Gardens. We also received a new artifact, a new enemy, and several updates to the AI, UI, 4K resolution, and bug fixes.

The Gardens, what looks like a maze of rotting and rusting corridors and passageways. In the center of this level is a massive, presumably dead tree that stretches through the partially broken glass of the greenhouse roof above. Wandering these forgotten halls, Outlander will come into contact with Wrath's newest enemy, the Wretch. This humanoid creature made of flesh and metal has a laser cannon sticking out of its mouth.

To help Outlander, we've been introduced to a new artifact called the Confounding Attar. A vial of oil that when used, confuses enemies and makes them fight one another. This can now be used to help take out multiple enemies, setting the player up to use the aptly named Ruination Blade.

The patch notes, which you can read by clicking the blue button below, gave players a look into the future of what's to come. Including alt-fire of some weapons. Further improved enemy AI. Performance improvements and optimizations. Along with various other improvements like an overhaul of item pickup sounds.

Wrath: Aeon of Ruin‘s first update is but a taste of things to come,” said Frederik Schreiber, vice president of 3D Realms. “It’s important for us to feel like each update is a major event, introducing new secrets to KillPixel’s satisfying kinetic gunplay.”

Wrath: Aeon of Ruin is currently available on Steam in Early Access.
