9 of the Biggest Announcements From PSX

And breathe... PSX is over for another year and we have a slew of massive announcements from Sony; it’s like Christmas has come early. While the dust settles, let’s have a look at some the biggest and best announcements from last week’s first party showcase.

Uncharted 4 Single Player DLC

Opening the show and starting our list is the much rumoured story DLC for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End titled The Lost Legacy. Much like The Last of Us: Left Behind, it will be a standalone experience of around 2-3 hours, but instead of a story following Nate or any of the primary characters you take the role of Chloe (from Uncharted 2) and it looks like you’ll teaming up with Uncharted 4’s antagonist Nadine.

TLOU Part II

With Naughty Dog bookending the show, there was only one way to top Uncharted - a sequel to The Last of Us. Titled Part II, the trailer stars a much older Ellie playing a guitar in a blood covered house where she is approached by Joel. It’s little to go on, but it’s already got the the conspiracy theorists tapping away at their keyboards. Don’t expect anything until 2019 at least.

TLOU 2

Eugenie Jarvis is Making Games With Housemarque

The brains behind iconic games such as Smash TV and Defender returns to game developing with the masters of gameplay Housemarque (makers of Resogun and Deadnation). Nex Machina is the title and it looks to be a futuristic top down hail mary shooter taking inspiration from the likes of Tron and Robocop.

Guerilla May Have Spoiled Some of Horizon

Sony’s next flagship IP was yet again given a HD trailer. Though the more we see, the more is spoiled. This time, in searching the origin of these mysterious robot dinosaurs, the camera flies across the environment, through a series of mechanical doors and into what looks like a laboratory. That’ll do until launch Guerilla, that’ll do.

Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy

In a Naughty Dog (sort of) hat-trick, the now Activision owned Crash was finally shown in all his current-gen craziness. A true remastering of the PS one trilogy, Crash looks better than ever in the now named Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. With analogue support and a proper saving system, the limitations of the the originals look a distant memory.

Ni no Kuni 2 Trailer

The Studio Ghibli inspired JRPG sequel was revealed earlier this year and at PSX we got a lengthy trailer showing gameplay and cinematics. It still looks a beautiful as the original with a cast of unusual critters and characters, with the trailer showing what appeared to be real time combat. Though still no release date, 2017 is still the date being given.

NiNo Kuni II

PaRappa is Back

Remember when we had none of the original console mascots for this generation? Well, in a matter of months that number has doubled. Alongside the raving mad bandicoot is the rapping dog and apprentice of an Onion, PaRappa. Receiving a full 4K and 1080p remaster, you can download a demo of PaRappa the Rapper now.

Christmas is coming to Destiny

Titled The Dawning, and available from mid December until January for all Rise of Iron players, your Guardian will be able to participate in the festivities. With new gear and gifts available as well as more Sparrow racing tracks and scoring Strikes, it’s the perfect way to celebrate baby Jesus’ birthday.

The Dawning

Knack 2 is Real

It had been leaked 18-months or so ago and was inevitable. Sony confirmed this at the showcase and it looks like more of the same from the PlayStation launch title. The trailer showed seemed to focus a lot on co-op play and involved the same particle shedding and gaining to solve puzzles. Another possible his for kids, but I wouldn’t hold out hope that it’ll be a game changer.
