Diaries of a Jedi Knight: Dark Forces part 1

It is a time of galactic unrest: the Empire is constructing a super weapon and I, Kyle Katarn, have been tasked by Mon Mothma herself to retrieve the plans so the Rebels can destroy it. Dropped into a secret Empire base on Danuta with only a pistol, I have the weight of a galaxy depending on me.

I quickly dispatched with the Imperial Officers and a Commando in the room I started in and picked up the Commando’s rifle and their ammo. I turned the corner and cleared out the adjoining room of the Officer and Commando in there. I pick up their ammo and recharged my shields before heading outside, silencing a dozen Stormtroopers on the ground and a half dozen more on the balcony above alongside another Commando.

Exploring the canyon, I discovered a cave system which contained a piece of imperial technology I was unfamiliar with. Pocketing it for further study, I noticed a faint tingling sensation, but I shook it off: the mission comes first. Noticing a door built into the canyon wall I enter, getting surprised by two Stormtroopers. As their helmets hit the ground I take the elevator up to some sort of control room, and I quickly steal a keycard from the corpses of its inhabitants. A final Stormtrooper blocked my way as I passed back towards where I initially came from.

The keycard opened up a new door which lead to an elevator and a couple more dead Stormtroopers. Pulling a lever opened up a wall in the corridor below and I could feel that I was close to my goal now. Passing down a spiral staircase and leaving three more bodies behind me, I entered a command centre, catching a Commando and an Officer off guard. I almost took a shot from a Stormtrooper hiding around the corner, but fortunately for me my shields protected me.

A switch on the wall opened up a hidden room, and there was my goal. The Death Star plans safely stowed away, I rushed to return to my evac point and found an elevator that took me right there. Three troops stood on the landing pad, and I hate to leave a job unfinished, so they too found their rest upon the floor. One attempted to hide around a corner that hid the vent I came in through, and I found another of that strange Imperial tech I had found in the cave earlier. As I pocketed it, my ship arrived and I made my escape.

With the Death Star plans, the Rebel forces are able to destroy the superweapon, but this does not stop the Empire. Word reaches Rebel command of an attack on Talay, location of the secretive TAK base. It’s been a year since the attack on the Death Star, but this could be the Empire finally retaliating. The recording from Tak base catches a glimpse of the attack, but those shots don’t sound like any Imperial weapon I’ve ever heard before.

Mon Mothma has hired me again to investigate a lead from a defecting Imperial officer, Crix Madine, though I’m going to need help on this one. Good thing Jan Ors isn’t doing much these days, we go way back and I wouldn’t trust anyone more to get me in and out of Imperial bases alive. There are too many questions left unanswered by this attack, and I’ll only learn more by going there.

Reviews the games nobody else will, so you don't have to. Give her a bow and arrow and you have an ally for life. Will give 10s for food.
