Future Games Show GC 2025: Son of Thanjai

One of my favourite aspects of videogames is how they can teach us about another culture while also being enjoyable and exciting. If nothing else, it’s a great medium to experience another place without it feeling like school or learning. As such, I’m pretty excited to see what Son of Thanjai has to show me of culturally rich 11th-century South India!

Playing as a Chola king, we are tasked with ruling the land of Thanjavur after our father, a beloved king, has passed. Born in the shadow of his greatness, we must work to forge our own legacy and risk being forgotten in the political machinations. Wielding the deadly but difficult Surulvaal, take on viscous combat and master the martial art of Kalarippayattu,
