New Free Game to Keep Forever on Steam — Initial Drift Online

Every once in a while, developers and publishers share their titles with players all around the world for free, allowing them to keep them forever. While this comes with a few limitations — such as no trading card drops for point shop items — it's the perfect opportunity to try a new title guilt-free.

The latest one to join the list is RewindApp, a large developer and publisher with over 94 titles under its belt, featuring games like Retrowave and its sequel. Exactly as you might expect from the team, the new free title, Initial Drift Online, features cars as you partake in Japan's drifting culture.

It's a 2023 release from the 30th of March, and the team is working on a new drift game called Akina, which was announced last year on the 13th of December 2025. Shortly after its free-to-keep promotion, the title smashed its all-time peak players of 826 (shortly before its full release from Early Access on the 31st of March 2023), currently sitting at 1,206 at the time of writing.
