SMITE World Championships Prize Pool Capped At $1m

The MOBA genre of video games are competitive to get in for both players and developers.

With big competition such as League of Legends or Dota 2 its a wonder how other developers can compete, Hi-Rez studios found a way. With a incredibly successful Season 1 world championships they are back with another SMITE championship with a one million dollar prize pool.

Some things to note according to a reddit post by Hi-Rez Stew include:

Average SPL viewership has more than doubled between the Fall and Summer splits.

Between the Spring and Summer Seasons, our North American/European pro league has expanded from 12 to 16 teams.

With the Xbox One official release coming later this summer, millions of additional SMITE fans are coming onto the scene over the next few months, and we have already seen strong interest in eSports for SMITE on Xbox One.

Although it doesn't meet the high payout of last season, Hi-Rez plans to do more events, spread out for an E-Sports season thus giving more players a chance to compete. Hi-Rez isn't slowing down anytime soon and SMITE fans will have a great competition to look forward to.
