Every month, we check out all of the top-wishlisted games on Steam to give us an idea about which sort of content players are looking forward to. We keep track of the changes, which include both the new arrivals and the ones that left — you can learn more about it at the bottom of the list.

One title has an AI Generated Content Disclosure on this list (Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis). We don't like covering titles that use the technology, but due to transparency and being honest to the top 20 list, we're keeping it in just to better track the changes of the industry.

Changes in May 2026

First, we'll talk a bit about the games that left the list from April 2026, as this will be a cleaner way to approach the whole.

• Forza Horizon 6: XBOX launched its sequel set in Japan on the 18th of May 2026, getting an all-time peak players of 302,645. It's available for £59.99, and it has 84% positive reviews across 64,369 ratings, giving it a Very Positive score.
• Gothic 1 Remake: The remake launched on the 5th of June 2026 for £41.99, and it peaked at 77,731 concurrent players. It's accrued a Very Positive score based on 83% positive reviews across 7,409 ratings.
• Outbound: Indie darling Outbound shook the world with two million wishlists before its launch on the 11th of May 2026. It peaked at 5,778 players, and it's currently sitting at 73% positive reviews from 1,375 ratings, giving it a Steam Mostly Positive. It's available for purchase for £19.99.
• Subnautica 2: First-place holder goes to Unknown Worlds Entertainment's sequel, which sat at the top for plenty of months before its release on the 14th of May 2026. It's the highest-rated of the bunch, sitting at 91% positive reviews from 103,625 ratings, and it peaked at 467,582 players (giving it the 29th top-most-played game on Steam); you can pick it up for £25.99.

Now that we've spoken about those who have left, we can take a look at the newcomers that replaced them. With four gone, four new titles have joined the list, and it won't be much of a surprise about why some of these have made the cut.

• Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced (16th): Last month, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced was the only newly announced title to join the list. It's one of the most beloved entries to Ubisoft's long-standing series, so it's no surprise that it climbed so fast — it passed Chrono Odyssey (18th), which had already established its spot last month. It'll launch on the 9th of July 2026. You can pre-order it already for £49.99.
• Burglin' Gnomes (17th): It's no surprise that Burglin' Gnomes would someday land on this list, given its demo became one of  Steam's top 100 most-played games on Steam during its runtime. It is the second title to pass Chrono Odyssey, and it received a 10th of June 2026 release date in May.
• Onimusha: Way of the Sword (19th): Onimusha is far from a newly announced title, as we learned about CAPCOM's upcoming release in December 2024. Since then, it's slowly clawed its way to the top, with a pre-order launched on the 23rd of May 2025 and a release date announcement for the 25th of September 2026 on the 2nd of June, which likely propelled it up to its 19th spot. It's available to purchase for £59.99.
• Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis (20th): Lara Croft's return was shown off during a PlayStation State of Play, which gave us a look at a new release date for the title, on the 12th of February 2027. Despite being a long-standing franchise, it has struggled to break the top 20 ever since its announcement in December 2025, though the release date seems to have helped with that. That said, it has been confirmed that AI is being used during development. It's available to purchase for £49.99.
