Steam Family Options Are Now Available to All Users

Valve Software has announced that the new Steam feature rolled out to the masses last week was Family Options. This new toy for us all allows us to set granular limits as to what family members have access access to in our Steam library.

The concept is to limit childrens access to games, content and features. For example, parents can mark all those violence and sex filled shooters in their library as off-limits, block children from making purchases in the store, keep them from interacting with the Steam community and prevent them from using user-generated content.

"Family Games" as they are known can be accessed through the Steam library as usual, but the account owner can disable, add and remove items as they choose.

All you need to do to access the new feature is find it under Settings in the steam client and set up your 4 digit pin and what items you wish to appear in family view.
