The MIX Fall Game Showcase 2025: Basalt: The Cursed Vein

When you hear the words match-3, mining, and roguelike, you may have difficulty imagining how these seemingly disparate concepts could possibly come together. Well, the (possibly evil) genius developer, Rhubarb, has achieved just this in their upcoming title, Basalt: The Cursed Vein.

Finding yourself in a dilapidated mining town, you are forced to enter the quarry in search of resources to rebuild. The only danger in the mine isn’t a cave-in, however, as eerie creatures and eldritch horrors await your descent! Use tools, artefacts, and special abilities to make all of your matches count in hectic match-3 gameplay, while also conserving your moves to dig deeper and receive better resources. Once above ground, use your gains to rebuild, gain better tools, and dive back in! Just… don’t dig too deep.
