Ace Campus Club Temporarily Removed From Sale Ahead of New Less Problematic Version

The time management strategy dating sim Ace Campus Club has been removed from sale ahead of a 2.0 release which the developer says is a "completely new game compared to the old one".

In Ace Campus Club, you play as a down-and-out college student who gets a large inheritance. There's one catch: become president of a well-known club in 50 weeks. Accomplish this by managing your time, and potentially romancing five ladies along the way.

The developer explained the removal, a mere four months post-launch, in a post on the Steam page. It was removed due to the new version being incompatible with the old version. The new version is required because they are removing content created by people who were fired from the studio.

Ace Campus Club 2.0 will have the old art and user interface, but the developer is remaking almost everything else, including music. As the script is being rewritten, they are unable to use the voice dubbing from the old version, so the new version may not be voiced. Also, the new version may not release with an English translation.

If you previously purchased Ace Campus Club, you can access the old version of the game by downloading the free DLC Ace Campus Club: Dark Edition. As old saves are now incompatible with the new version, they gave details on how to move them to use with the DLC.

If you're curious as to what caused the team members to be fired, it appears to be down to players being unsatisfied with how the characters were written. One user review explained it as making them "feel physically uncomfortable". Worth pointing out is that the image at the bottom of the game description on the Steam store page has been changed from showing their names and ages to just having question marks:

Ace Campus Club is currently unavailable to buy, but will return to Steam at a later date.
