Bungie Recast The Role of Ghost In Destiny

Bungie Recast The Role of Ghost In Destiny

Peter Dinklage has been the voice of Destiny's Ghost since the game's release...but 'has' is the operative word here.

In an interview with Game Informer, Bungie revealed that the voice of Nathan Drake, Mr. Nolan North, is the new voice of Ghost.

“I was really excited to do this role,” said North. “You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it.”

Nolan North was brought in to voice Ghost in the upcoming expansion The Taken King, but Bungie decided to use Nolan's voice for the entirety of the script.

“We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty,” said creative director Luke Smith.

North commented that he avoided listening to Peter Dinklage's voiceover for Ghost, stating that he wanted to give it his own spin.

“They really wanted me to put my stamp on it. They let me bring what I wanted to the role. You have to give it your own spin. For that reason, I specifically said I didn’t want to hear anything that someone else had done, so that I didn’t have some preconceived notion of what it has to be. Instead, I just gave it my stamp, and let them direct me accordingly.”

Destiny: The Taken King is the biggest expansion in the series to date, and is set to be released for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on 15th September.
