Crossfire Stars Makes History in Vietnam

Crossfire Stars Makes History in Vietnam

The central Vietnamese government have never certified an e-sports event. Which means that the official certification obtained by Smilegate Games for their Crossfire event “CFS Invitational in Vietnam” was a great achievement both for the company and the country itself. CFS Invitational was the first tournament to be held outside of Korea and China for the title. Smilegate are aiming to expand and develop the game beyond its popularity in those countries by taking it worldwide.

The 2000 seats arranged by the organisers sold out entirely, meaning some spectators in Ho Chi Minh City had to hunch at the side of the were in full capacity, having some spectators sit on the sides, and reaching online viewership of 70 thousand viewers for the two day long event which was ultimately won by “SUPER.CTV”.

Similarly, “CFS Invitational in Brazil” was hosted during November 20 to 22 in the representative city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 6 teams from Latin America, North America, China, and of course Brazil, competed in a full league where the best 4 would advance to the playoffs. After winning against Brazilian team “G3X,” “HG.LongZhu” headed towards the crown in the final match against North American team “3sUP.Carbon.” After a close game, “HG.LongZhu” secured a hard victory.

With the partnership between Smilegate Games and Azubu TV, the Invitational tournaments in Brazil and Vietnam were each streamed in the local language of the other country through the Multi-language service. For example, the Brazilian community could watch the “Invitational in Vietnam” in Portuguese and vice versa. This way, fans not miss the tournament that was happening on the other side of the world.

Smilegate Games' Ina Jang stated,

“Although there were some worries since it is the first ever hosted Invitational in Brazil and Vietnam, we could end the tournaments successfully because of all the support from CF fans, and hope that this will be the start of future, better CFS Invitationals to come for fans to enjoy Crossfire wherever they are.”
