Far Cry: Primal Announcement Trailer

Ubisoft have announced the latest title in the hugely successful Far Cry series, and they're going pre-historic with this one. Far Cry: Primal will put you in the shoes (if indeed they had shoes back then) of Takkar, a seasoned hunter of the untamed wilderness of 10,000 BC.

You'll not only contend with woolly mammoths and sabretooth tigers, but you'll be fighting starvation, mastering the art of fire and tool making, and generally trying to survive in the ancient land of Oros.

Dan Hay, one of Ubisoft's executive producers, said “the interesting thing about Far Cry is that it’s flexible, so when a team proposed to explore the idea of a Far Cry taking place during the Stone Age, we just said ‘let’s hear it!’ And the more we heard about it, the more we realised how much of a damn good idea it actually was."

Far Cry has never been afraid of mixing up the formula, as evidenced perfectly with Blood Dragon, the insanely over-the-top and balls-to-the-wall hilarious follow up to Far Cry 3. With that in mind, you can rest easy that Primal is at least in very good hands.

As long as it doesn't become primarily a survival game, everything should be fine. The market has been over-saturated with such titles in the last few years and we don't need one of the best franchises releasing one too.

Far Cry: Primal is set to release for the PC in March 2016, and for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 23rd 2016.

Is that an official promotional image you're using on the front page...?

So, is this a Blood Dragon type expansion, or Far Cry 5?
